Erik Started playing travel baseball with the Eagles at age 10 as a shortstop and pitcher. He continued for the next 5 years until 9th grade. During this time he also played travel basketball and flag football for Yorkville. He went on to play high school varsity baseball at Beacon H.S. in NYC where he started in centerfield. He led his team in batting in both his junior and senior seasons. During this time he also played varsity basketball starting at small forward.
During the summers he played for the New York Nine / Team NY where he traveled throughout the east coast and central regions playing the top teams in the U.S. He went on to play college baseball at Concordia College, a division 2 school in Bronxville, NY where he was award and athletic scholarship.
He was a 4-year starter playing right field for his first 3 years and center field in his senior season. During the summer of his Junior year he played in the New York Collegiate Baseball League in Syracuse, NY where he faced some of the top players in college baseball from throughout the USA. He finished his senior college season leading the team with a 409 batting average and a 503 on base percentage. He subsequently was awarded First Team All Conference in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference and First Team All Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association.
